The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has resumed its knowledge-sharing collaboration with Pakistan's Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) after a decade-long interruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. A delegation from WAPDA, consisting of Mr. Jawaid Akhtar Latif and Mr. Mohammad Salman Faruqi, was received by AIT's Vice-President for Knowledge Transfer, Dr. Naveed Anwar, and Director of Yunus Center AIT and Program Director EDSMAT, Dr. Faiz Shah. The collaboration involves the Energy Distribution Services Management and Technology (EDSMAT) Program, which offers a range of courses led by AIT faculty and industry experts.

The latest phase of the program will see 480 participants attending courses in Turkey and Thailand, with the addition of in-country learning programs at the WAPDA Engineering Academy and the WAPDA Staff College. AIT aims to expand its knowledge environment beyond Thailand, reaching learners in other countries. AIT President, Dr. Eden Woon, expressed satisfaction with the partnership, and Mr. Jawaid Latif, a participant in a previous EDSMAT program, praised AIT's high-quality learning environment. Dr. Faiz Shah thanked WAPDA for their confidence in AIT and highlighted the success of previous EDSMAT programs. The memorandum of understanding was signed by Dr. Naveed Anwar and Dr. Faiz Shah in the presence of other senior officials from AIT.
